Trio Gaudì was founded in 2005 thanks to the common passion for the potentialities of clarinet, violin and piano.
The performances of the trio convey energy and creativity thanks to an original repertoire which goes form the music of the late nineteenth-century to the contemporary one, including jazz too.
Giovanni Cardillo
He graduated in violin at the academy of music "A.Scontrino" of Trapani with full marks under the guide of Maestro Leopoldo Fichera.
He attended a European course at ”Ente Luglio Musicale Trapanese” to work as a conductor.
Under the guide of Maestro Giuseppe Gaccetta (the last descendant of Maestro Nicolò Paganini’s prestigious school), he developed his instrumental technique.
He got a recognition during the 2nd national exhibition for young musicians A. Mozzati Prize in duet Violin-Piano. He worked hard for “Orchestra Lirico-Sinfonico dall’Ente Luglio Musicale Trapanese” and for some of the best Italian chamber groups such as “Orchestra da camera Amodei”, “Orchestra d’archi Ensemble”, “Orchestra della Provincia di Trapani“, “I Virtuosi di Roma”, “Camerata di Torino”, “Lombardy Philharmonic Orchestra”, “Orchestra Haffner”.
He went on several tours, in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain. He founded “Elimo String Quartet” and he did many concerts as first violin. He was the President of the Orchestra of the province of Trapani, under Maestro Eliodoro Sollima’s guidance. He gave the first performances of the following Maestros: Antonio Fortunato, Eliodoro Sollima, Richard Faith, Marino Pessina.
He gained several experiences in lyrics, symphonic and chamber music, under the direction of some world-famous Maestros: Peter Maag, Anton Guadagno, Cristian Segaricci, Frank Cramer, Antonello Allemandi, Filippo Zigante, Nicola Samale, Marco Berdondini, Sergio Olivia, Roberto Tolomelli, Angelo Cavallaro, Janos Acs, Antonio Pirolli, David Charles Abell, Gert Meditz, Steven Mercurio, Fabio Maestri, Marcello Rota, Giulio Franzetti. At present he is conductor of “Orchestra d’Archi La Croma” and he also plays as a soloist.
In 2005 he founded Trio Gaudì together with clarinettist Alessio Terranova and pianist Silvia Nicola. Some composers such as Richard Faith, Marino Pessina, wrote for them some compositions.
Now he plays the violin “François Lupot” of 1778.
Alessio Terranova
He studied clarinet at “Civica Scuola di Musica” of Milan with Maestro G. Nava, one of the last representatives of the Italian clarinet school, called “school of the good sound”In 2001 he graduated in Musics at “Istituto Musicale parificato “G.Donizetti” of Bergamo.
He attended a specialization course and a master with Maestro P. Fre and Maestro K. Leister.
At the same time he studied “harmony jazz” and he also played the clarinet in his traditional jazz band: “MILANOANS” .
He also cooperated with some theatres and orchestras. He played the clarinet for the “STRAMILANO-DièNott” performance with Adriana Asti for the permanent company of “Teatro Filodrammatici of Milano”. He played as well for the composer Manuel De Sica at UNESCO Maison of Paris for the gala evening held in Vittorio De Sica’s honour.
At the Italian Institute of Culture of Paris he was the artistic director of “La Chambre” of Attilio Bertolucci represented by the actor Paul Barge. On 25th March 2006 he played as a soloist with the Haffner Orchestra of Milan during the “Notte Bianca” at “Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore” di Milano. He cooperated with “Orchestra da Camera Milano Classica”, the “United Europe Chamber Orchestra”, Wind Orchesta of Milan and he also played chamber music in many countries such as France, Holland, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary and Poland. In jazz music he cooperated with some of the most famous Italian jazz musicians: Rossano Sportiello, Tony Arco, Lucio Terzano, Guido Mazzon. In the year 2005 he founded “Trio Gaudì” together with the violinist Giovanni Cardillo and the pianist Silvia Nicola. They played together some pieces of contemporary composers such as Richard Faith and Marino Pessina who later on dedicated to them some of their musical compositions.
Silvia Nicola
She started studying the piano under the Maestro Maria Luisa Caprara’s guidance at "G. Rusconi Institute" of Rho (Milan), and she also attended a chamber music course hold by Maestro Luca Braga. She graduated at "L. Marenzio" Academy of music of Brescia with excellent marks. In autumn 1999 she participated to a Masterclass hold by Maestro Boris Petrushansky at “Euphonia centre” in Cavernago (Bergamo). In 2001 she played W.A. Mozart K.488 together with the Chamber orchestra of the "G. Rusconi Institute" of Rho. In the same year and until 2005 she worked as violinist accompanist at the Chamber music course hold in Stresa by Maestro Luca Braga.
She attended a 2-year-specialization course for pianist at the International Music Academy of Milan, under the guide of Luisella Minini for the piano and Maestro Massimo Belloni for the Chamber Music, and she got excellent marks. During that period she formed a piano duet together with pianist Lara Cribioli. They started performing in public in many exhibitions and for associations around Milan and Bologna, like “Jammin in the garden”, the “Accademia A. Mozzati” of Mezzago (next to Milan), the “Music festival” in Milan and they also played in Villa Aldovrandi–Mazzacorati in Bologna. They improved their studies with M° H. Moreno e N. Capello in Bologna as well. In 2002 she specialized in French sonatas for violin and piano at the Academy of Music of Vicenza under the guide of Maestro Luca Braga and Maestro Riccardo Zadra. She repeated the same experience the following year with Maestro Bruno Canino.
In addition to the concerts she started teaching music at the Academy "S. Girolamo Emiliani" of Corbetta (Milan) and she also created musics for the theatre projects of schools.
She attended a course of “Psychophysiology of the musical execution” which was conceived and hold by Maestro Federica Righini and Maestro Riccardo Zadra. She is now mainly involved in performing with Trio Gaudì.
